Brighton Festival 2012
Posted on: April 16th, 2012England’s largest festival of the arts is back! This year Brighton Festival takes place from the 5th to the 27th of May in a variety of venues across Brighton. The three week festival boasts an impressive 240 individual events across the arts, from literature to dance.
Brighton Festival was established in1967. Over its 45 year span the festival has played host to well known contributors to the arts, Ella Fitzgerald, Ballet Rambert, Harry Connick Jr., Etta James and Spike Milligan, to name a few. With over 300,000 visitors to entertain each year, the festival has expanded and diversified. This year will see musical acts such as James Vincent McMorrow and Grammy Award winner Matthew Rose perform. Other artistic events such as the outdoor theatre performance of Motor Show, a piece which documents the exchanges between a couple in love whilst in their car. There will also be performances by acclaimed Oedipussy, dance displays, circus events and a children’s parade.
Each event can be attended on an individual basis, so you choose what you want to see. With up to 19 events running each day, there is sure to be something to suite your tastes.
